A Sick Day
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: Commericials
Topic: Spinning
The darling kiddie was sick today - she actually could have gone to school, but it sure was nice to stay home with her. 6:00 this morning I had all kinds of dreams of spinning all day. Well, it's 3:45 pm and all I got done was to ply the purple yarn, and take the alpaca/BFL off the niddy noddy.

I think I am going to use the purple for some mittens. I might use that blue/turquoise that I finished a couple of weeks ago for the band. I saw a cool pattern on Knitty Gritty. Oh, and I am narrowing down my Knitting Olympics project. I'm feeling inspired to knit myself a sweater. A Lopi style. I have a bunch of magazines to browse through. I knew that stash of knitting mags would come in handy one day!

Finally, the weekend
Mood:  energetic

Although it was a short week for me, it seemed like a really LONG one! Maybe because it was the first week back to the routine again. Today I am going to do some very needed cleaning and then organize my wool and spinning supplies. Now that the tree is down I have a permanent place to put my "stuff". Took some pics of what I have been working on. I am thinking of plying the yarn I have on the spool now. I have two of them. I might even try Navajo plying. It looks really neat! Here's what I have lately:

I'm not sure if I posted pics of the purple yarn yet. The purple that's rolled in a ball is the very first skein I spun. I have to find my drop spindle and compare it to that. Actually, my daughter wants to try the drop spindle. It was sitting right here next to my computer, but now it's gone. Must have put it away someplace. I hate when I do that! OK, I have to do some more computer stuff for girlscouts, and then I have to get moving!

I want to spin!
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: James Bond Movie of some sort??

OK, I didn't take a pic of the merino/tencil I spun the other day, but I managed to make a little scarf out of it on the way to WEBS yesterday:

Aren't the colors awesome! I absolutely love them! It is so soft too!

Then I got to WEBS and showed real restraint. This is what I came home with (exept the last two on the left - those were e-bay finds):

Then a wonderful lady name Joy sent me some great samples that I got to play with. I am going to place an order with her. I never knew there were so many fibers!

So anyhoo, I walked out of WEBS for under $60, a real first for me. Besides the fiber I got a niddy noddy and a pretty shawl pin. I did take my friend down in flames though - $90 later she will be making a sweater! And I taught two other friends to knit socks. We'll see how they fare.

Look what Santa left under my tree!

This is what I have so far:

I guess it's not too bad for my first skein. I know it's waaaayyy over twisted, but I guess that just comes with practice. I am bummed out that I spun all the fiber I have, except for two small piles. Thank goodness we are taking a trip to WEBS on Thursday. I can pick up some more stash. Now, what can I make with this little bit of yarn? I'm thinking I can add some novelty yarn to it and maybe make a thin scarf? I gave mom her one sock - she got a kick out of it. I took it back so I can match it to the next one I knit!

Sit and Spin
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: Animal House
Topic: Spinning
I had gotten a spindle and some other spinning items at the NH Sheep and Wool Festival. That was a fun trip last Spring! I tried to spin a few times and got frustrated with it. It had been sitting in my closet over the summer.

Lately I have been doing more research on the subject and got back into it. I just tried again and am finally getting the hang of it. Unfortunately, I went through all the fiber I had in the bag! I was so bummed out! I have a whole bunch in a grey bag someplace, but since our home is still under renovation, I have no idea where that bag is. It might be in the storage trailer. I'll have to go check it tomorrow morning.

Guess that means I'll have to go work on those Christmas socks again.
