Fast and wrong!!
Mood:  crushed out
Topic: Knitting

To coin the phrase from my favorite podcast, Knitty D and the City (I don't know how to link yet, or I would do it) my latest project is fast and very wrong!!

In my haste to cast on and get knitting my super duper of a deal poncho, I neglected to read the directions PROPERLY.  In am increasing every row instead of every other row.  Now, this might be good, as I am larger than the average woman and could use the extra width.  However, I am going to have to stop increasing so rapidly or it will be too big, even for me.  I could frog it all at this point, but I think I like the way it is increasing.  My only fear is that when I go to the proper increase rate, it will certainly look different .  How will that look????  So much for a quick project............

A match made in heaven
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: Yankee Game

OK - so maybe not a match, but definitely a bit of heaven!!!

Why not a match you say???  Well, it goes kinda like this.  I started the pretty pastel bow tie sock (notice the bowties??) and finished it.  Then I went to start the second one, and low and behold I CAN'T FIND THE SECOND BALL OF YARN!!!!  So, doing what any manic knitter would do, I cast on a different ball!  So I now have one of each sock completed.  I just cast on the second grey one last night.  PS -  I did find the second ball of pastel in my special spot that I keep just for sock yarn.  Why didn't I think of that??

Guess what else I cast on last night??

It's Icarus~

How about those colors!  They are so me.  I found the Interweave Knits summer issue at the LYS.  I bought the yarn from Knit Picks with the intent of making the Faroese Peaks Shawl, but I did not buy enough yarn and got frustrated with the pattern.  This is my first venture in lace.  I need to get the Lace Virginity button for my blog.  Anybody know how to do that??

It's Official
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Christmas with the Kranks
Topic: Knitting
Yes, it is official - I will NOT have my mom's socks done in time for Christmas. There is no way. I will finish the first one tonight. Then I am wondering if I should just wrap it as a joke and tell her that I am still working on the second one! It would be so typical of me! They are really pretty. Nice self striping yarn that I got years ago. Ah, that good ol' stash!

3 more days to go
Mood:  rushed
Now Playing: TV noise
Topic: Knitting
I know, 4 more days till Christmas, but it's 3 days for me to finish mom's socks! We have our big Christmas Eve get together at Mom's and the Christmas get together at Dad's (which Mom goes to as well - all my parents/step parents are great friends). I'm so lucky! Pics of finished gifts, as promised. I have to wait for my daughter to get home so she can model the hat for my god daughter! And my furry child has to get in on the pics too!

Stocking finished

I sewed the stocking together last night. I don't like it much better than when it was apart! My daughter likes it, so I guess that's what matters.

I've been delinquent with my blogging of late! I have tried several times to create a new entry only to have something happen to my computer! I have finished alot of Christmas knitting - got the socks done for Lisa, the hat for Allison. Now I am working on a pair of socks for mom. OK - I am trying to shrink some images. Let's see if it works. Here was one of the Christmas card photos

Socks and stockings......
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: TV noise

Still working on the Christmas socks. Got home too late to finish the Christmas stocking. Try again tomorrow.

My best friend, Lisa, recorded Knitty Gritty for me because we don't get that station on our lame cable network. They showed how to do Illusion Knitting. It was really cool! I keep having her record the episodes that look interesting.

OK, enough blogging, more knitting.....

My New Blog
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: Fox News
Topic: Knitting
I just set up my new blog! Woohoo!

I should probably be knitting right now - I am working on a pair of socks for a Christmas gift. I also have a pair of leg warmers I want to do for a gift as well. But alas, I went and bought some yarn for an awesome poncho I saw in AC Moore last week! Just can't resist temptation. Actually, the whole project cost me under $20, hence the reason I bought the yarn. I am having second thoughts on the yarn though - I am afraid it will start to pill because it is not real good quality yarn.

I also have to block the Christmas stocking I am doing for my daughter. It needs to be flattened out so I can sew it together. It looks OK - it was a kit I found at Savers for a dollar last year. I'm a sucker for a bargain.

I really want to make nice stockings for the whole family (a nice snowflake pattern or something like that) but it will have to wait until next year.
